Don't you just hate it when Masjids are locked? At least I do. I'm always told that it was for security reasons; that thieves don't steal the valuable things inside, but why can't they make a room for the Masjid and stuff all the valuables inside? My Masjid had made some renovations done a few months ago by adding more space towards the west. Its not sparkling with beauty but its so comfortable-looking with green and cozy carpets. You'd feel like rolling around and sleeping there but they even made a sliding door for that room and after every congregational prayer it gets locked. I can kind of understand it being locked at night so that drug addicts don't make a mess there, but why after every congregational prayer time?
So lets rethink an alternative solution to locking the Masjids. If you want to prevent stealing, throw the valuables into a small safe room that is available to the caretakers only. If you want to prevent animals from entering, install some chicken mesh wiring at the gate entrance outside. If we have drug addicts sleeping at the Masjid, does that really make a big problem? I can't stay at the Masjid in the afternoon anymore without having to ask for the keys. Oh! I just thought of an idea! I think I should ask for the keys to the Masjid so that I'll be able to read Qur'an there peacefully. At the same time I could take care of the place. Thoughts anyone? Should it be so necessary to lock everyone else from worshipping in the Masjid when you can think of an alternative solution to problems? |
